Friendship, confidential support, resource information and FREE pregnancy tests, baby and maternity clothes.
At Birthright, we understand the challenges related to unplanned pregnancies. We know that it can be an overwhelming and often scary situation. However, we also know that there is hope for the mother and her child. Birthright believes that “It is the right of every pregnant woman to give birth, and the right of every child to be born.” Birthright is here to be the friend that a pregnant woman needs as she navigates an unplanned pregnancy.Birthright is available to women for as long as they need us. We offer love, friendship, and support to women who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant. Birthright services are always free, non-judgmental and confidential. We can also provide information, referrals, and resources to help the woman help herself. Birthright is unique, and available 24/7 through our toll-free helpline. Birthright is not involved in any religious movements, political activities, or lobbying. Birthright’s focus is on loving the mother, reminding her that there is hope and ensuring she is not alone.

Donations Keep Us Going
Birthright volunteers cannot begin to describe the generosity and support we have received from community individuals and groups during the chapter's 45 years of service. The giving spirit often flows our way in the form of financial donations, volunteer hours, maternity and baby clothing, blankets, diapers, well wishes and prayers. As we continue assisting women pregnant and in distress we send out a special "THANK YOU" to all individuals and groups including the Sisters of St. Joseph, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Women's League chapters, St. Peter's Women of Prayer Shawl Ministry, London catholic high schools, Western Lifeline, St. Mary's Prayer Group, the Diaper Bank and the Crochet Club of London.
Moving forward, we hope this support continues. Birthright clients are always in need of love, resource information and material aid. For material aid, please consider donations of baby clothing, gifts for mom such as lotions and hair supplies, or baby wash and wipes for their newborns. Whatever you could offer would be much appreciated.
Interested in volunteering? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and ask for an application. You could help in a number of capacities including working with clients, fundraising activities and public awareness initiatives. We are currently in need of a new fundraising coordinator who will look after about eight bingos per year. Training is provided.
Annual Report: Our usual offerings of love and support have resulted in a significant increase in activity at the Birthright office. Calls/emails relating to clients rose to 620 in 2017 compared to 610 the previous year. While total number of clients went from 109 to 100, client visits grew from 137 to 153 and requests for larger baby clothing from 73 to 82 in 2017. Our layette distribution rose slightly from 45 to 51 and maternity clothing requests from 32 to 41. Numbers tell the tale that our free material aid like clothing, is significant but, we know that the needs go much deeper. We endeavour to communicate with more people more often and empower clients with appropriate information so they can network with local resources and take control of their lives. It is our hope that this empowerment will lead to a higher functioning and happier life for our clients and their families.
Special Ladies' Brunch: WOW!!! What a fantastic time we had at the 'Special Ladies' Brunch' held Sunday, April 30th at the London Delta Armouries. Great eats, terrific door prizes and a loads of fun filled the day. This annual event not only supports the work of Birthright, but also highlights the dedication and initiatives special ladies offer to the needy in London and area. Thanks to all of our sponsors who donated prizes and purchased tickets. At last count, we should just surpass $1,500 in donations from the brunch.
Regional Convention: Local volunteers joined about 50 of their colleagues for a day of networking and training during a regional meeting in Brampton. Speakers presented practical information regarding adoption, midwife and financial support services. Chapter representatives also shared public relation/fundraising publications and discussed better ways to welcome and assist our clients. Thanks goes out to the Brampton group for providing us with a wonderful day filled with fellowship, great information and a bit of fun!
College Co-op: Saddly, we've had to say good-bye to our first college co-op student. Ashly Martin, from Fanshawe College completed her placement with us and has moved forward in her educational experience. But, before she left, Ashly received hands-on experience helping out our clients by providing moral support, resource information and material aid. She also researched and updated our list of community resources and presented her findings at our volunteer training session. Ashly was a breath of fresh air in the office and we wish her well in her future endeavours.
Birthright Bequest: Please consider a wonderful way to keep your support for Birthright alive by remembering us in your Will and when recommending expressions of sympathy.
